Pencils and Rulers

Pencils and Rulers was presented as part of the exhibition Addressing Space, that took place at ArtSpeak Gallery from January 09 to 12, 2024. Other participating artists included Allison Ware, Brayden Jones, Jay Newman, Maya Rice and Maria Mediratta.
I usually work with the materials that I have at hand. For creating this work, I relied exclusively on my colection of rulers and pencils that form part of my drawing practice, as well as on a selection of rulers and pencils belonguing to ArtSpeak gallery. I selected objects to measure exactly the length of one of the walls of the gallery without modifying any of the elements.
This way of working brings a certain limitation, but also the possibility to reuse those materials after the exhibition is over; bringing them back into daily life after having gained a new meaning while being part of an exhibition.
